Make Back To School a Success

Follow these tips to start the year off on the right foot.

Make a plan

Ask the following questions about your child's academic life — take stock of the following to chart a course for academic success.

  1. Where is your child now?
  2. Where could he be?
  3. What is needed to get there?

Take a tip from scouting: Be prepared!

Homework haven

  1. Set up a study stadium.
  2. Set up a time for homework.
  3. Set up a process for staying on top and checking in each day.

Organization

It's been said before, so it must be true — neatness counts! Your child should:

  1. keep schoolbags tidy,
  2. take good notes,
  3. and use an agenda.

It's that easy.

Communication

A little oral communication, a quick chat, is a great way to stay up-to-date on student's progress. Check in with the teacher each week and ask a few key questions about:

  1. Are there any areas that need attention?
  2. What should be celebrated this week?
  3. What are the up-coming projects and tests?

Go to the Source!

Talk with your child each week about school goals, successes and next steps, so you'll never be out of the loop.
